Designing the full product experience for Boom's frictionless checkout platform that replaces passwords with secure, device-based pin codes.
The Problem
Passwords are the single biggest source of friction — and fraud — in e-commerce checkout. Cart abandonment at the payment step costs retailers billions each year, and traditional authentication methods do little to improve the experience for returning customers.
The Solution
Boom disrupted the legacy checkout experience by replacing the tired username-and-password model with a secure pin code, delivered instantly to the user’s personal device. The result was a dramatically faster, more secure checkout flow that significantly increased conversion rates while simultaneously reducing fraud exposure.
Our Role
Interactivism worked with Boom across all aspects of product design — from interaction models and user flows through illustration and final UI. We designed a mobile-first experience that made the novel authentication mechanism feel intuitive and trustworthy, ensuring users could move from cart to confirmation with minimal friction.
