Airbnb for pets
Designing the launch website UX for Dog Vacay, the pet care marketplace that raised $47M before being acquired by Rover in 2017.
The Platform
Dog Vacay was a marketplace that matched dog owners in need of pet-care services — boarding, dog walking, and more — with qualified, vetted animal caregivers. At a time when leaving your dog with a stranger still required a leap of faith, Dog Vacay needed a website that made the process feel trustworthy, easy, and even delightful.
What We Designed
Interactivism designed the UX for the Dog Vacay launch website, creating an experience that helped pet owners find and book the right caregiver with confidence. The design work covered the full user journey: search and discovery, caregiver profiles, trust signals, and the booking flow.
Outcome
Dog Vacay launched in 2012 and raised $47M over four years, growing into one of the most recognized pet care marketplace brands in the US. On March 29, 2017, the company was acquired by Rover in an all-stock deal, merging two of the category’s leading players.
