SOLA/HACK! – 3rd annual design thinking and social entrepreneurship hackathon for South LA

Sat March 25 – Sun March 26, 2017

General Assembly (DTLA)
360 E 2nd St #400
Los Angeles, CA 90012

Members of a community are too often relegated to being mere spectators of change. How can they instead become active participants and influencers in the changes that affect them most?

In this mini-hackathon event, participants will use design thinking, UX design methods and web development skills in an entrepreneurial spirit to address social, economic, and environmental challenges specific to South L.A. Participants will learn about these challenges with two kick-off talks, and then form teams to brainstorm and rapidly prototype solutions.

SOLA/HACK! was created by Julian Scaff, Design Director at Interactivism, to apply design thinking to social entrepreneurship. Projects developed during the hackathon may be featured at the next TEDx Crenshaw event, and will also be promoted via the TEDx Crenshaw website to city officials, investors and community organizers.
