Erik Wingren, Principal

Erik was born in Sweden, grew up all over, and is now living in Los Angeles.

With an education in Anthropology and Business, he co-founded Basho in 1999 — a San Francisco based Design Research firm, working with European executive teams looking to learn from the creativity and innovation of Silicon Valley during the dot-com boom and bust.

In 2003 Erik joined boutique brand research consultancy Tattoo, helping clients like Banana Republic, Condé Nast, Allure, Teen Vogue, SBC and Yahoo define, optimize and defend their brand propositions.

2004-2005 Erik worked independently as a UX Research & Design consultant with US and European companies such as Bluegrid Technologies, Index:Award, XLR8or, Idealab, Snap and Omnilux.

In 2005 he moved to Los Angeles to lead UX Research & Design for Snap.com at the Pasadena based incubator Idealab, helping the company pivot from niche search play to one of the fastest growing distributed online media networks in the world.

In 2008 Erik again started working independently with agency and product clients such as Sony, Microsoft Mobile, Xbox, Iconmobile, Tsavo Media and Myspace.

2009-2011 he joined Myspace to build the UX team and to lead Information Architecture, Interaction Design and User Research in the redesign, rebranding and relaunch of Myspace.

Erik is currently pretty busy consulting, but is always open to exploring new opportunities.
